Morning Pages Entry – December 17, 2013

Well, I did manage to get some Christmas shopping done yesterday. Actually a little bit early for me. Some electronic gadgets for the girls, and one little thing for Karen. I suppose, I need to buy some more stuff for Karen today, some stocking stuffers, then I can consider myself done. Still didn’t do any writing yesterday, which has me a little bit concerned. Got a little bit hung up with the Tony Robbins videos I was watching yesterday. [personal stuff edited out] I’ll have to check it out and see how I feel with it. The Personal Power stuff looks interesting. It puts you on a 30 day time thing, with exercises to do everyday. It could be what I need to get things going. The diet thing for me is still going strong. I hestitate to use the “diet” word, as what I am trying to do is establish a better lifestyle. And what I’m eating, should be something I can follow going forward, as a new and healthier lifestyle. I’m staying away from all refined sugars, and processed foods. The thing is though, I don’t feel like like losing a ton of weight or anything. Sure, I’m doing weight training, so I know I’m getting stronger, but I’d like to see the weight dropping as well. I seem to be stuck around the 178-179 mark. It would help though, if I had a reliable set of scales that were a little more trustworthy. Although, I probably shouldn’t be stepping on the scales as much as I am. I know I’m going to hit plateaus, and in all likelyhood, I shouldn’t really be weighing myself anymore then maybe once a month. But the daily tracking is sort of interesting, so I’ll keep doing it. My clothes are fitting better though, and definitiely, if I could drop another belt hole that would be a sure sign that things are getting better. I’ve already dropped one hole, but that hole was so stretched to start with, it’s not as significant. The next hole would be. I can almost get into it now, but my pants are almost too big for it, as they start to pucker when I put it to that hole. I should try out that really tight pair of jeans I have that I bought just after I finished P90X. Those would be a real indicator of how must fitter I’m getting. Usually playing squash is a pretty good bellweather as well, but with the ankle still recovering, I haven’t had a match in over a week now. It will be two weeks in a couple of days. I am however going to go and hit the ball around again tonight to keep up my skills a bit. Thursday, we have a bit of a team thing, so I’ll definitely be doing that. The ankle feels really good this morning. No pain at all actually. I’ve still been feeling a bit of pain in the arch of the foot, but whenever I just massage it out, it seems to go away. Which is sort of strange, but I’ll take it. Tonight should be a good test of where it is exactly. It will be nice to get back to playing some proper matches. Mark beat David for the number 1 spot, so it’s encouraging to see that his game is getting better. If I can just get mine up to where I would like it to be, then I think this team can go all the way this year. We had a great start to the beginning of the season, and finished on a bit of a downturn. But, I’m sure we’ll come out strong to start the second half of the season, and beat the crap out of everybody going forward. Especially, if I can survive Christmas, and keep my fitness up. maybe next week sometime, I’ll get someone out for a challenge and get my climb to the top going. My goal was, to take the number 1 spot, and go undefeated for the rest of the season. Then play that Ken guy over at the Y, and beat him good. Well, maybe not good, but a win over him would be interesting. It certainly would be an interesting match to say the least, if I was where I need to be. I definitely to be under 170 pounds to play him. Probably more like 160, and with more muscle for sure. Then I could give him a good run.
