Morning Pages Entry – January 31, 2014

Alright, today is day 60 of a new morning journal writing streak. Only 40 more days to go I think, until I hit 100. That will be pretty cool. I wonder, how many books I will have published by then. Hopefully 2! That would be even more cool. And, sure, why wouldn’t I? Yesterday was a great day of writing. Did 3259 words I think, using my new pre-plotting method. And that’s an all time best for me going all the way back to the summer. It’s also very encouraging, in terms of getting to my 5000 word per day goal. Actually, if you factor in my 750 morning journal words yesterday, then I actually did write 4000 words for the day. Not to bad eh? Yesterday was a pretty great day all around actually. Not only did I hit my new daily word record, but we also kicked ass at squash league last night. We swept the athletic club team alvaros angels 5-0 last night. As a matter of fact, I think they only got like 3 games off us the whole night. That’s the way to deal with the competition. I also discovered, that there’s not reason for me not to have a bit of wine after my matches. A stainless steel water bottle is great for importing wine into the club. Thanks to Sean Marten for that little tip. I’ve never had wine there at the club for afterwards, only beer for the team, which I don’t usually partake in, being a good paleo eater and all. But yesterday was pretty cool, because not only did I have a few glasses of wine after the match, but I also got to play first, because their number 3 needed to be at a hockey match for 8, so I got to enjoy my wine, while the rest of the team took apart the competition. There were some pretty exciting matches as well. The highlight rally of the night, had to be when Mark had his second game point of the night, and his opponent totally lost his racket on a shot. Mark didn’t realize it at the time, but all he had to do was put the ball anywhere on the front wall, while his opponent was scrambling for his racket and he would have won the game. Instead, he ended up tinning the ball. Huge boisterous groans were heard fro miles coming from the crown. A few game balls later, and he still managed to win the game, but was pretty surprised when he found out the real reason why the crowd was making so much noise behind him. It was a pretty good match overall, considering we actually lost to those jokers last time we played them at athletic club. That was a pretty annoying match, but revenge is pretty sweet as well. Served hot or cold it doesn’t really matter, but yesterday, it was definitely hot. So, today, I guess the pressure is on to repeat yesterday’s performance, and make it just as great today. Not sure how I’m going to do that without a squash match to play, but I’ll have to work on it. Ah, the other thing that was great about yesterday’s match, is how well my ankle brace worked out for me. That thing is terrific. I think, it may just save the last half of the squash season for me. It’s so stable, my ankle that is when I wear out, that I’m kicking myself for not trying it earlier. Ah well, live and learn. I think, I still may have a shot at hitting my squash goals, albiet a bit later then I had planned. I can take out Eric tomorrow, to retain my current number 3 standings, then I play on taking David down on Monday when we play. This ankle thing is going to work out great. I should do a bit more reading on the Paleo diet for athletes. I think, it can not only help Samantha, but could be pretty good for me as well. If I can time what I eat according to the diet, so I’m strong for all my tough matches that would be great. Getting some good carbs into my body timed for those matches could swing the difference for me against David. Last match wasn’t so great, but I know the next one will be now that I’m back to eating better, and the ankle is taken care of with that brace. If I could only drop down a few more pounds between now and Monday, that would be, even better. Although, some timely good carbs before the match may be my best option.
