Wow, did I ever need that sleep last night. I was just exhausted after that weekend. Two 6am mornings to work a swim meet, then squash in the afternoon. Plus the couple of nights before the weekend, I let myself get roped into finishing that one video game Enslaved, which I shouldn’t have done. They were a few nights of less than 5 hours sleep. Not so good. Not so good for recovery from your workouts, and not so good for performance when it comes to playing squash. Can’t be doing that shit. That’s for sure. So, 30 days or so until playoffs now for league. OK, maybe it’s time to be super strict with the paleo thing. No chocolate or booze until the finals night, or until your team gets the boot from playoffs. Whichever comes first. That should be interesting. If I could drop another 10 pounds before finals night, that would be amazing. If I could drop it before the 27th, which would be tougher, but would be beneficial as well, since that’s our first week of playoffs. Looks like we will be playing Andrew Kays team, which should be good. We still won’t have our number 1 to play, but given the depth of our lineup, we should be able to smack those guys around, if everyone does their thing. Even with Devan and James at the lower spots, there’s not much fear of us losing those games. Then, just one of us in the top 3 has to win a match. Shouldn’t be too overwhelming. Gonna play a match this week against Kyles team. It’s just an exhibinition match, but should be pretty competitive still. They’re a tough team, and we will be missing our number 1 for that match as well. Maybe should play Eric at the top spot, and see what happens. He would have to play McKenzie or Kyle likely. Would be interesting to see how he does against one of those guys. Although, I think Eric already lost to McKenzie likely in house league play. Today, I have to take Jessica to Strathroy for an ear doctors appointment, which is a bit of a pain in the butt. But, maybe not so bad, considering, that it’s likely easier to park there, then at Victoria hospital in London. It may not actually take me that much longer to get there. Ah well. I think, I’m just going to do a weights workout tonight at GoodLife with the FitFix machines. I missed that last week, and I don’t want to get into the habit of doing that too much. Definitely need to keep up on the weight training. I was looking over my cards this morning, and there definitely is some improvement going on. Need to keep that up. Come this summer, and boat time, I think I’ll have to come up with some sort of beach workout that I can do when I’m down there. Something crossfity, that works good in the beach environment. Even, if I have to come up with some sort of equipment. Probably doing squats, pushups, some form of pullups and plank movements. That would be a really good think. Think about movements that use multiple muscle groups at once. Doing big movements, then jumping in the lake to cool off would be a great way to stay in shape this summer, and be in prime form for squash in the fall. I was really slow in recovering to decent form after last summer. It wasn’t just last summer though, it was a cumulative effect, of letting my fitness drop off over a few summers. Even when doing paleo and eating too much dark chocolate wasn’t a very good thing. I’ve so got to get away from that stuff. It would be helpful, if the rest of the family would climb on board, but that’s not likely to happen, unless I can coerce them with some sort of bribery, like doing all the grocery shopping and cooking for 30 days. That would be likely to make a difference for Karen. Then, perhaps, convincing Samantha, that she could get her provincials time back after 30 days of the whole30 program. That could be a harder sell, as it’s not as guaranteed for her, but well worth the effort. Could also be an opportunity to totally clean out the cupboards of crap for a period of time. That would be interesting as well. Just imagine opening all the cupboards, and seeing nothing but good paleo food. That would be a major bonus for me.
