Morning Pages Entry – May 05, 2014

So, I think, I’ll work downstairs today. My back was bugging me a bit over the weekend, and I’m pretty sure, it has to do with sitting on the couch upstairs. As much, as I do like sitting upstairs with the big window, the couch is not a great place for me to sit for long periods of time. I’m quite sure, that last summer, when I threw out my back, it had to do with sitting for too long and working at the boat. That seat, is likely even worse. Or maybe, it’s just the act of sitting too much that did me in. I’m pretty sure, I can come up with a better way of working from the living room, with some sort of stand up desk or platform. But, trying to find space to do it on the boat, could be even trickier. Although, getting a decent battery for the laptop, and using it on top of the birm may be a good solution. A bit wierd I’m sure, but doable. Unless, I find a way to get a bigger boat. Or just go for walks every 45 minutes. That’s not such a bad idea either. As long that as, as you don’t get caught dock talking during one of your 15 minute walks. I would bet, you could walk from your boat, down the birm, and back along the road to your boat in 15 minutes. That might be a good solution. Then, you could have your 5000K words done before noon no problem. I think, I will keep getting up by 6:30 every day as well. That’s a good habit you’ve gotten into lately, and one you should stick with. Today I don’t have a morning practice to get the kids from, so I can get even more done. And, if Sam passes her drivers license this morning, then, I should be able to get off the hook for a lot of the driving going forward. I’ll still have to do Jessica on Wed, and Friday, but I won’t have to do Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. 2 days driving is far better then 5 days driving. I think, I’m going to do the 2 days per week 600 calorie fasting thing. I did one day last week, and it was pretty good. Nothing to crazy. I’ve actually been looking forward to it again. 2 days per week, would be twice as good for me, and I should lose the pounds that much faster. I’m still determined to get down to 155. It’s been 66 days as of today, that I’ve gone without a single drop of junk food or refined sugar in my diet. I did have a few glasses of wine, but that’s about it. It feels good, to be working from the downstairs again. Sure, there’s no window, but I do have pictures of the boats at the marina to look at. It’s just nice to have the bigger screens I suppose. And, sure the view isn’t quite there, but there’s also not the distraction there was from working upstairs. Plus you get the privacy again of your office. That’s something that I suppose, I missed a bit being upstairs. I really want to get this book edited and out there. The boys Mark and David, aren’t being all that helpful at the moment. Which, I suppose, I can understand as it’s a bit of work, and they are busy guys. What to do about that? I suppose, I may just have to outright pay someone to do the editing. There are plenty of recommendations on the WritersCafe forum, and I’m sure they would get the work done much quicker. I suppose, if I could get it done for around $300, then it would be worth it. At, the very least, a proofreader would be a good investment. While, I think the writers on CritiqueCirlce are god too, at least the ones I’ve gotten so far, that would take forever to go through an entire novel. Unless you setup a private queue and do the work that way. But, then you need to find people willing to go through your entire book for you. I’m not so sure about that. If you got a chapter up there every day or so ,that would be a lot for people to critique. You almost need to have multiple accounts. That’s a bit of a scam, and likely wouldn’t work anyways. You need beta readers or something.
