Yesterday, Jessica got to go to Prom with Ryan. They didn’t actually go to the dance I don’t think, but they did go to the pre-prom, out to dinner and then they were going to a movie or something special. It was pretty nice of Ryan to do that for her. He’s a pretty nice kid. I didn’t even see her last night when she came in. I must have been outside putting the new speakers up in the patio or something. That’s sort of cool that I got those setup. I’ve never actually had proper outside speakers up there, I don’t think, in all the time that we’ve had that patio together. That’s kind of nice though. The patio looks pretty good this year actually. It’s ringed with Christmas lights, which drive Karen crazy cause she thinks they look tacky, but I think it looks pretty festive. They just come on at night for a few hours. Now, I just need to get some more fuel for the tiki torches, to keep the bugs away . . . something citronella. Then I should get the hanging planters back and going again, and it will be pretty complete. That shouldn’t take too much work. Can’t remember what I used to put in them, but something nice and green and hanging would work pretty well. The rest of the garden is so so. It could, really use the touch of someone that knows what they’re doing, but for now, it will just have to get by with us. And, yesterday again, I didn’t get a whole lot of writing done, which is bugging me a bunch. I wanted to have a few more character sketches done, and some backstory by now, along with an outline, and a bunch more words, so I can break the novel out into 2 parts when it publishes. This is going to be a bit of a crazy week it looks like. This cooking for everybody, is getting to be a bit of a distraction. The cooking thing is going really good. It’s only been one official day, but two days of cooking, and the kids all like the food (karen is another story … she dosen’t handle change well), and I thought some of the food was pretty good as well. The roasted sweet potatoes were pretty amazing yesterday I thought. Much better then anything I’ve ever had in a restaurant. People have talked about how amazing Whole30 foods are, and that eating out in restaurants is not all that appealing to them, once they get going on the food thing. I can sort of start to see why. I’m going to have to get a bit more efficient at it time wise, and I’m not sure about lunch time today. Not too sure what I’m going to have for everyone. There’s always salads with chicken thrown into the mix I suppose. I think, perhaps I should make up that meatloaf recipe, and see what that one is like. Yesterday, we just had the PorkChops and bbq sauce with the roasted sweet potatos. The day before, I made up some chocolate chili, with some ranch dressing for dipping carrots in. Everyone seemed to like that pretty much, except of course for Karen. I need to do a bunch of cooking this weekend, so it doesn’t take up all my time during the week. Oh yea, and I did make up a bunch of those chicken fingers the other day as well, which everyone liked (again except Karen). They were a bit too spicy, but I’ll back off on the cayenne pepper a bit next time, and see what they’re like. I laid on the batter probably a bit too thick as well. The trick now to all this, is to become more efficient at it all, so I don’t end up spending all my time with it. Stock up on a bunch of the shopping, so your not going shopping every day, would be a help as well. Maybe, I can recruit Jennifer to do the shopping more often. She went out for me yesterday, which was helpful, and maybe cooking something in the evening after supper, like for the next day, or for lunches would be good. That app “Out of Milk” that I have for my phone is a big thing for shopping. It’s definitely making that side of things much easier. So, get more organized, and get a shitload of writing and editing done this week, will ya!
