Morning Pages – February 07, 2014

Well, we have a few good writing days behind us now, let’s see if we can continue. Had a good night again at league last night. Put the gears to another GoodLife team unfortunately. Wasn’t a perfect night, we only got 18 out of a possible 19 points, but it’s pretty hard to complain about that. It should move us one step closer to solidifying our position as the number 1 team in the division for year end. Not sure how I feel about that. The good teams I’ve captained in the past, have always been teams that had to fight to come from behind. We were always the underdog, when it came down to the playoffs. This is a bit different. We’ll have to see how it plays out going down the road. I do believe we are strong enough to beat any team in the division, even when they put their best 5 on the floor. Quite often they haven’t, whereas we have been pretty good about that. My guys have been pretty available when it comes to league night. There was only one night all season, where I had to go to the number 7 in my lineup. I could basically, have gone with a 6 person lineup all year long, and just used spares when needed. That would have worked better for me. I would have been quite happy with that lineup, and not worried about feeling guilty for not playing Tony over the course of the season. Or, not felt bad for losing the night 2 out of the 3 times we played him. I did actually play Lucas the one night, and ended up losing with him as well. Without those loses, we would have only lost 1 match all season. That horrible night at FitnessForum when we played there. That was a nasty loss. That team, is going to be the ones to beat in the playoffs. Hopefully, someone else will take them out in the quarter finals. And, if we do have to play them on a real court, there’s no reason what so ever that we should lose to them. I didn’t play them that night, and if I can get my act together, over the next week or two, then we should be well positioned to put any team down we come up against. Actually, I guess I have about a month. In theory, I should be able to lose another 10 pounds in that time. If I focus. Really focus. Go for it buddy. The only indulgence from here on end, will be wine on Thursday nights. Period. That’s it. No more screwing around. By the time the playoffs start on March 20th, I’ll be in tip top form for them. I do need to arrange some tough challenge matches for the team during that down time though. We’re going to be off for a couple of weeks there, and I need to keep the team playing. Playing hard matches. Challenges for sure. We need to be beating each other up for the playoff positions on the team. Not breaking each other, just beating each other. Play some really tough challenge matches. That’s what we need to be doing. Gotta keep the momentum going even during the down time. That will be the key. Something the other teams likely won’t be able to do. Like the Fitness Forum team. They can play each other, but they don’t have any other members at their club to really push each other. That’s what we need to do. Really push each other. Maybe invite the guy from the Y to come over and play our guys. A TigerNicks invitational round robin, might be fun to do. Our own little mini tournament. That would be supercool. I should get on that. Something we could do for the march break week, that we’re off. Maybe Sean could reach out to that Ken guy, and get him to play. Who else could we invite. Maybe, some guys that don’t play league, and a few others from the other teams? Perhaps a little GoodLife teams march break “C” division tourney. Something that lasts just one night. If you organize it well, and do something to make it a bit more fun, then that would be sort of cool. Something to give all the GoodLife teams a bit of a push before the playoffs get rolling. Yea, boss you need to get on that. It would be kind of a cool thing to do.
